The prices of LPG in Kolkata is determined by the Indian oil marketing companies. The LPG prices in India is subject to vary on a regular basis. The prices are arrived at after taking into consideration the global crude prices and currency exchange rate. The rallying crude prices in the global market has led to the recent hike in LPG prices in Kolkata.

Currently, the domestic LPG cylinder prices in Kolkata stands at Rs 907, up by Rs 58, with effect from October 1, 2018.

The government has stepped in to help the common man to bear the heavy prices of domestic LPG cylinder by providing subsidy on LPG. The subsidized amount will be directly credited to the customer's bank account post purchase of domestic LPG.

LPG cylinder in India is available in two forms one for domestic and another one for the commercial purpose. The domestic LPG cylinder will be provided to the needy middle-class people at subsidized rates. For non-subsidized consumers, the domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 907.00 and for the subsidized customers, the domestic LPG cylinder costs Rs 505.64 in the city of Kolkata.

The weight of each domestic LPG cylinder in Kolkata is recorded 14.2 kgs.

The Kolkata residents are allowed to purchase up to 12 domestic LPG cylinders per year at subsidized rates for domestic consumption. If the consumers cross the set mark of 12 LPG domestic cylinders per year, then they will be charged at a non-subsidized rate starting from the 13th cylinder.

Step 1: First download the Paytm app on your mobile phone.

Step 2: Open the Paytm app and go to the gas booking page.

Step 3: Now select the “Book a Cylinder” option and your respective service operator.

Step 4: Proceed further and enter your ‘Consumer Number/Linked Mobile Number’ in the given space.

Step 5: Select your respective ‘Gas Agency’ and click on the ‘Proceed’ option.

Step 6: Now enter the booking amount.

Step 7: Proceed to make payment with your preferred payment mode.

Step 8: A message will get displayed informing you about the successful booking of a refilled LPG cylinder on the screen.

LPG Prices In Kolkata: 14.2 Kg Per Cylinder At Rs 829, Down Rs 171 MoM

Kolkata has experienced a significant adjustment in LPG prices, with the current cost of a 14.2 kg cylinder set at Rs 829, inclusive of subsidies for the month of March. This marks a notable reduction of Rs 171 from the previous month, a development of significance as the 2024 general elections approach, scheduled between April and May.

The pricing of LPG is supervised by major oil market companies, namely HPCL, BPCL, and Indian Oil, which also govern rates for various cylinder sizes, including 14.2 kg, 5 kg, 19 kg, and 47.5 kg cylinders. Fluctuations in LPG rates are influenced by global crude oil prices and the exchange rate between the Rupee and the Dollar.

Prominent providers of LPG cylinders in the region encompass HP Gas (HPCL), Bharat Gas (BPCL), and Indane Gas (Indian Oil Corporation). Notably, a 19 kg cylinder is priced at Rs 1,911, a 5 kg cylinder at Rs 308.50, and a 47.5 kg cylinder at Rs 4,774.50.

LPG cylinders cater to both commercial and domestic needs, with prices varying accordingly. Commercial cylinders in Kolkata are priced higher than domestic ones. Additionally, the cost of subsidized and non-subsidized gas cylinders may differ based on customers' subsidy status.

Acceptable documents for proof of residence include Aadhaar (UID), Driving License, Lease Agreement, Voter ID, Ration Card, Telephone/Electricity/Water Bill, Passport, Self-declaration attested by a Gazetted Officer, Flat allotment/Possession letter, House Registration Document, LIC policy, and Bank/Credit Card statements.
