To help curb the chances of tax-evasion Finance Ministry only recently mandated the linking of PAN and Aadhaar details for filing ITR. Come July, without Aadhaar you may not be able to file the ITR, so for salaried class whom the last date for filing is July 31st, gear up and apply for Aadhaar on an urgent basis.

Nonetheless, if there is any discrepancy in Aadhaar card or details are not in sync with those specified in PAN. Here is all you can do to get the details modified and hence recified. Know the procedure to link Aadhaar with PAN.

Aadhaar Seva Kenra or the nearby Aadhaar enrollment centre or the UIDAI site can be visited to get all the necessary changes. Only ID and address proofs are to be furnished (note- self-attested copies only) with correct details concerning name, gender, date of birth, address, e-mail Id and contact number. Ensure that the details are as per provided in the PAN so that you don't meet any hurdle at the time of filing return. No other documents are to be furnished.

To effect the changes, the UID department shall provide you with a new enrollment number. The status of the same can be checked on the official site of UIDAI. After keying in the given enrollment number, an individual can track the changes he had asked for updation. It is to be noted that the department would take 7-10 working days to execute the requisite changes.

Also, the department of Unique Identification shall check-in a few but important parameters before effecting the changes else the request can be denied. UIDAI shall check on any textual error, document completion, any mismatch in the document uploaded, any mismatch in respect to Aadhaar number or mobile number in the form for applying for modification.
