S.D. Shibulal: Career Highlights

Shibulal's career began in 1979 when he joined Patni Computer Systems as a software engineer. In 1981, he co-founded Infosys Consultants Pvt Ltd. along with six others. He played a crucial role in Infosys' growth, focusing on project management and client relationships in North America. Shibulal was instrumental in developing the Global delivery model for outsourced IT services.

In 1991, he left Infosys for a five-year sabbatical and joined Sun Microsystems in the United States. During his time at Sun, he designed and implemented the company's first e-commerce application. In 1997, Shibulal returned to Infosys and established and headed the Internet Consultancy practice.

He held various senior leadership roles within Infosys, including Head of Worldwide Sales and Customer Delivery, Head of Infosys Manufacturing and Distribution, and Internet Consulting practice. In 2007, he became the Chief Operating Officer, where he focused on competitiveness, customer experience, employee engagement, and expanding services.

In 2011, Shibulal was appointed as the CEO and Managing Director of Infosys, succeeding Kris Gopalakrishnan. He introduced the Infosys 3.0 strategy to propel the company into its next phase of evolution, focusing on strengthening strategic partnerships, increasing client relevance, and evolving the business model.

Shibulal expressed his desire to retire as CEO and MD in 2014 and stepped down on 31st July 2014. Following his retirement from Infosys, he co-founded Axilor Ventures, a venture capital service for young entrepreneurs, in the same year.
