Most individuals are familiar with the Employees Provident Fund based Universal Account Number (UAN) which can be used to check balance, EPF passbook etc., and all your previous member IDs to UAN. You can also file and view transfer claims.

If you have forgotten your password, one can click on " Forgot Login" and enter the UAN and registered number to retrieve the user name and password on your mobile.

In case if you have changed you mobile number it will be difficult to access your UAN. So, you can access UAN when mobile number is changed through the following ways:

Click on the Link http://www.epfindia.gov.in/site_en/For_Employees.php?id=sm2_index

1) Select the forgot password and mobile number is changed option from the drop down.
2) Enter all the details such as new mobile number, UAN, member ID, Date of birth and other details.
3) Enter the problem in the text box
4) Select the preferred language.
5) Click on generate OTP

You will receive the OTP on your new number which is entered. Enter the OTP and submit the form.

The EPFO office will resolve the issue and send your password, to your new mobile number.

The other way is to send the same by post. Write an application on your company letter head mentioning the change of mobile number and send across through speed post to the regional post office. Note that the application should have new mobile number and UAN.

You will receive your password on your new mobile number within 15-18 days time.

The launch of UAN has enabled PF members to access a bouquet of services like dynamically updated UAN card, updated PF passbook including all transfer-in details, facility to link previous members' ID with present ID, monthly SMS regarding credit of contribution in PF account and facility for auto-triggering transfer request on change of employment.

One of the great advantages of the UAN is that you can receive your provident fund money very quickly. You also need to link your Aadhar card number to your UAN, which will make your life a lot easier.

It helps you to receive the balances in your account, which the EPF is not targeting in 7-14 days. This is because the Aadhar is a great card for identification and authentication.
