It is crucial to update your mobile number in case you have changed it and link the new mobile number with your Universal Account Number popularly known as UAN. It is worth noting that EPFO has introduced provisions for all the members to avail its several services via SMS on the registered mobile number.

Steps to register mobile number in EPF account
As and when the UAN gets generated, you are supposed to activate your UAN simply by visiting the EPFO member portal. You need to follow the steps given below for activating your UAN.

• You must visit the EPFO Member Portal
• Press "Activate UAN"
• Fill your UAN, Aadhaar Number, DOB, mobile number along with captcha code
• You will receive an OTP on your mobile number
• Enter OTP for activating your UAN and this mobile number will get registered too with your EPF account

Once your mobile number is registered with your UAN, all SMS communication by EPFO will be carried out through this number. You can also change this number online in a few simple steps:

• You need to visit EPFO member portal and log into your account
• Now click on "Contact Details" Option under the "Manage" section
• When you check the "Change Mobile Number" option, you will get a new section in which you need to fill the new mobile number twice. Click on "Get Authorization Pin"
• You will receive an OTP on this number
• Now enter the OTP in the space given and press "Submit" option
• Soon your mobile number will get updated in the EPFO portal
