Aadhaar Card is a 16-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). In case, you have recently changed your mobile number and you are worried about missing important information as you haven't got your new mobile number updated on Aadhaar, then this article is for you.

One should note that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now extended the deadline for updating it for free by three months to December 14, 2023. Now Aadhaar users will be able to update Aadhaar for free till December 14, 2023, instead of September 14.

Earlier, the deadline was September 14. This is the second extension of the deadline since June.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to change the registered mobile number on the Aadhaar card:

Offline mode to change registered mobile number on Aadhaar:

• Visit your nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre
• Do Carry an Aadhaar Update or Correction Form and fill in all details including your updated mobile number
• After filling in the details submit your form to the Aadhaar executive
• After this authenticate your details by providing your biometrics including your retina scan and fingerprints.
• Once the form is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment slip which will have your Update Request Number (URN).
• The URN can be used to check your update status and within the next 30 days, your mobile number will be updated.

Online method to change your mobile number on Aadhaar

• Visit the Indian Postal Services Website link and then fill in your details like name, address, mobile number, etc.
• From the drop-down menu, select 'PPB-Aadhaar Service' from the option of 'Service'
• Now, select UIDAI-Mobile/Email to Aadhaar linking/update and then after filling in the required details, click on 'Request OTP'
• Enter the OTP that you will receive on your registered mobile number
• Click on 'Confirm Service Request' and then keep note of the reference number that you can use to track your application status
• A designated officer will carry out the complete verification process and will visit you regarding the same
• Till December 14, this service is free, once the process is complete, the required changes will be made.
