Musk vs Zuck Rift: Fight On? Elon Musk Admits To Joking On Cage Match With Meta CEO; A Timeline!

One of the most hyped social media rifts between two billionaires has taken a new level of absurdity. In the latest jive, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk decided to take a Tesla FSD test drive to Meta CEO's Palo Alto residence on August 15. Tesla's CEO said if Zuck answers the door, the fight is on! However, Zuckerburg is not at home, confirmed The Verge, and also that he isn't going to fight someone who randomly showed up at his house. At the start of this week, netizens across social media giants X and Instagram, almost thought the spat between Musk and Zuck would calm down when the Facebook founder remarked its "time to move on", however, Musk dismissed them by calling the former a "chicken".

The brawl between Musk and Zuck has been escalating on their respective social media engines X and Instagram with each other. But how did it all start? It was the open invitation of a cage match by Musk to Zuckerburg that has frenzied netizens across the world.

Nevetherless, Musk today admitted to joking about the cage match.

Musk on Wednesday highlighted the fight recap on the X. He said, "I joked on X about fighting Zuck," -- adding --- "Zuck then said "SEND ME LOCATION". Further, in the thread, Musk also added that "Italy graciously offered a Colosseum," however, "Zuck declined". This led to Musk suggesting Zuckerburg's home as a 'safe place'. However, tragically, Zuckerburg is travelling, to which Musk added a sarcastic 'ahem'.

Finally, Musk asked, "Is there anywhere he will fight?."

On August 15, Musk tweeted, "For the Tesla FSD test drive in Palo Alto tonight, I will ask the car to drive to @finkd's house," adding, "Will also test latest X livestream video, so you can monitor our adventure in real-time!"

"If we get lucky and Zuck... actually answers the door, the fight is on!," Musk added.

However, Alex Health, Editor at the Verge cited Zuckerburg's spokesperson's comment, "Mark is travelling right now and isn't in Palo Alto. Also, Mark takes this sport seriously and isn't going to fight someone who randomly shows up at his house."

Earlier, on August 13, Zuckerburg posted saying "I think we can all agree Elon isn't serious and it's time to move on. I offered a real date. Dana White offered to make this a legit competition for charity. Elon won't confirm a date, then says he needs surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead. If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and official event, he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I'm going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously."

To Zuckerburg's 'time to move on' remarks, Musk on August 14 said, "Zuck is a chicken". Netizens also replied to the post, some even calling it boring. Author Ashley St. Clair said, "Mark Zuckerberg confirms he is absolutely no fun in a painfully boring post on that other app."

How Mark Zuckerburg and Elon Musk started fight?

It all started after Meta's launch of its social networking app, Threads which allows users to post and share text, images, and videos, as well as interact with other users' posts through replies, reposts, and likes. Similar to Musk's widely used networking app, X.

After being awol for more than a decade on X which was earlier Twitter, Mark Zuckerburg on July 6, 2023, uploaded on Elon Musk's rebranded app. It was right after the launch of Meta's online social media and social networking service, Threads which was launched on July 5, 2023.

Zuckerburg's Threads is seen to rival Musk's'X'. The tenth richest man, Zuck's July 6th post involved an image of two Spiderman cartoon characters pointing at each other. Musk replied to Zuckerburg in his first post since 2012, saying, "You literally just hit CTRL C+V".

However, the idea of a 'cage match' which was the beginning of these open challenges for fights, was first started by SpaceX's chief Musk which was as a response to a thread related to Instagram's newly launched Threads.

To which, Zuckerburg responded saying, "send me the location". He responded on Instagram with a screenshot of Musk's tweet over the cage match.

As the expectations of a potential fight between the two billionaires heightened, UFC president Dana White also joined in on the anticipation. Dana posted a video of himself where he is wearing a Zuckerberg vs Musk shirt which was made available for purchase on the UFC's website.

As of August 16, 2023, Elon Musk holds the title of richest man in the world with a net worth of $217 billion, while Zuckerburg is at the tenth spot with a wealth of $110 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaire Index.
