Private company employees change jobs frequently. During those changes, many people usually forget either not withdraw or forget it to transfer. Any EPFO Account which fails to make contributions for 36 continues months or (3 Yrs) is called as an inoperative EPF account. Such inoperative accounts now can be tracked online.
One year back EPFO started online help desk to track inoperative EPF accounts. This help desk helps you to find your inoperative EPF accounts by providing the minimum information of accounts.
The EPFO help desk is being created to assist the members to trace their accounts, which the member then can get it merged with the present account (UAN) or withdraw the same.
Know how to track your inoperative EPF accounts?
Log in to EPFO India website. You can see Our Services option on the top. From Our Services select For Employees. A new window will appear. Under the Services menu, you can see Inoperative account help desk. Here you need to click on that tab.
You will land in a new window. There will be a detailed explanation note about inoperative EPF accounts and the help desk. Below the text you can see three options:

In the new window, you need to provide problem details like why and for what purpose your account is lying idle. Then click on the NEXT tab.
You will get a new screen where you need to provide as much information as possible. Establishment Code, PF Account No, Establishment Name, Establishment Address, Date Of Joining, Name of the owner, Date of leaving, etc. need to be filled. If you provide more details, it will become easier to find out your EPF account. These fields are not mandatory. But to be precise give as much information as you know. After filling the details click on the NEXT tab to proceed further.
In this step, you have to provide your details such as Name, Mobile Number, Date of Birth, mail id, contact address and language of preference. Note that the first three fields are mandatory. You have to provide Aadhar No, PAN No, Bank Account No or IFSC code for KYC purpose. After filling the details click on Generate PIN tab to receive the PIN on your mobile. You will get the PIN on your mobile as an SMS. In the new window, space will be provided for entering the PIN. Enter that number in the next step. Visit the login page of EPF help desk and login to it by providing reference just generated and your mobile number. This will land you to EPFO Helpdesk Dashboard. How To Check Your EPF Balance By Missed Call?
Your query regarding inoperative EPF account will be directed to the concerned field officer in the Regional EPFO. They will assist you in locating the account.
If you don't know the Establishment Code or PF number, then queries will be transferred to the centralized helpdesk. They will call you to get further information and providing inputs to field officers. There is no time limit set for tracking account. If you provide more details, it will be easy to locate the PF accounts.
In order to get the benefit out of the help desk facility, the EPF members are requested to provide correct contact along with email address, if available and only their own mobile number so that EPFO may easily contact them. If the EPF member does not have a mobile number, then a mobile number where he/she may be easily contacted should be provided.
