What is GST registration?
It is the process by which a taxpayer becomes registered under GST. When a business is successfully registered, a unique registration number known as the Goods and Services Tax Identification Number is assigned to them (GSTIN).
What is GSTN?
The Goods and Services Tax Network (or GSTN) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that oversees the GST portal's entire IT system. In other words, this is the master database for all GST-related information.
What is GSTIN?
The Goods and Services Tax Identification Number, or GSTIN number, is a one-of-a-kind number code that each taxpayer receives after registering on the official GSTN portal. Your GSTIN or GST number is derived directly from your PAN card registration and PAN details.
Eligibility for GST registration-
- Individuals who are registered prior to the GST law.
- Non-Resident Taxable Individual
- Casual Taxable Individual
- A company with a turnover of more than Rs.40 lakh is eligible.
- Individuals who sell goods through an e-commerce aggregator.
- Businesses with an annual revenue of Rs.20 lakh or more.
Documents required-
- Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the applicant Aadhaar card copy
- Address proof of business
- A passport size photo of the owner
- Bank details
- Letter of authorization
- Electronic signature
How to register for GST online?
- Go to the GST portal https://www.gst.gov.in
- Click on the 'Register Now'
- Select New Registration
- Fill out all the details
- Enter state/UT, district, name of the business, PAN, Email ID and Mobile number
- Enter the OTP received
- Now, click proceed
- A temporary reference number will appear on the screen.
- Now, go to GST portal
- Click on Register under Taxpayer menu
- Select TRN
- Enter TRN and Captcha and proceed
- Upload all the required documents
- Submit the application
- Enter the verification code
Once the registration is complete a message with application reference number will be sent.
