Steps To Set High-security Password In SBI To Get OTP For Every Transaction

|

You must set a high-security password (OTP) for your State Bank of India account if you want to get a notification on your phone or by email if a transaction occurs on your SBI account. You will get an OTP for each transaction to validate it. This OTP-based password adds another layer of security to your account, ensuring a high level of security. With the OTP-based authentication for added security, SBI allows online banking more secure. The log-in password is a mode to keep the account secure, however OTP serves as a "second-factor password" to ensure the account's security. If you do not receive the SBI OTP for every transaction via SMS, you can need to reset your high-security password by signing in to your SBI net banking account. SBI also allows its customers to make OTP-based cash withdrawal for a minimum amount of Rs 10,000. Let's look at how to generate a high-security password (OTP) via SBI net banking.

Steps To Set High-security Password In SBI To Get OTP For Every Transaction
  • Visit https://retail.onlinesbi.com/retail/login.htm and login in to your account using Username and Password.
  • Now click on 'My accounts & profile' and then click on the 'High-Security Password' option.
  • Now using the 'Profile Password' you will be redirected to the next page.
  • On the next tab, you'll see a few security alternatives as given below, which you can customise according to your preferences.

High-security option 1: If you make transactions such as Inter and Intra-Bank beneficiary payments, Credit card (VISA) beneficiary, IMPS and International Funds Transfer, then you need to select 'Yes' to get OTP for every transaction. If you choose 'No,' you will not receive an OTP on transactions up to Rs 10,000 made in a single day.

High-security option 2: Transactions made at Merchant establishments are included in this option. For each merchant transaction you will get a One Time Password (OTP) if 'Yes' is chosen. If you choose 'No,' you will not get an OTP for transactions totaling up to Rs 5,000 made in a single day.

High-security option 3: This option includes the mode of authentication through OTP. To do so, choose an option from SMS, SMS and email, or State Bank Secure OTP (Mobile App) according to your preference. It is suggested to select the SMS and Email option to get OTP for every transaction.

When you make any transaction online or offline in the potential, you will get a notification on your registered mobile number and email-ID. Using the high-security password and OTP you can keep track of your bank account transactions on the go.
