The term CNG stands for Compressed Natural Gas. It is a kind of fuel which can be used to run the vehicles apart from the use of traditional fuel like petrol, diesel, LPG and so on. CNG is usually made up by compressing the natural gas to less than 1 per cent of the volume it occupies at the standard atmospheric pressure. The gas is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of 20 – 25 MPa (2,900 – 3,600 psi) in spherical or cylindrical shaped cylinders.

CNG gases is a lot cleaner when compared with gasoline and diesel fuel. The vehicles which use CNG emit less carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide (a primary component of smog and particles). The gas is most suitable to use in buses and trucks because CNG is stored in big and bulky fuel tanks. These tanks can be fitted properly in big vehicles like trucks, buses and it is not convenient to use them in cars and two-wheeler vehicles.
CNG is one of the eco-friendly gases which can be used by the vehicles to reduce the pollution level. Hence many people are opting CNG and are switching on from using the traditional form of fuels.
