Waterbase Ltd. Company History and Annual Growth Details

The Company was incorporated on 23rd November 1987 at Calcutta with the Registrar of Companies, West Bengal and obtained the Certificate of Commencement of Business on 10.2.1988. The Registered Office was shifted to New Delhi in 1990 and subsequently to the factory premises at Ananthapuram Village. Nellore District vide CLB Order No.174/17/94 dated 15th September 1994. The Company's name was changed from THAPAR WATERBASE LIMITED to THE WATER BASE LIMITED and a fresh Certificate of
incorporation dt.12.2.1992 was issued by the Registrar of Companies, Delhi & Haryana. The Companies manufacturing operations are at Ananthapuram Village, Nellore District.

The Company set up a 100% integrated aquaculture export oriented unit consisting of hatchery, farm, feed mill and process plant in 1993. The cost of this project as appraised by Industrial Finance Corporation of India in December 1991 was Rs.4250 lakhs. The company made a public issue of equity shares of Rs.10/- each for cash at par to the extent of Rs.200 lakhs and 15% Partly Convertible Debentures of Rs.100/- each for cash at par aggregating Rs. 380 lakhs in June 1992. The issue was oversubscribed by 24.6 times.

The project was to commence production in phases by July 1992. But, due to modification of the water intake system, there was a delay in commercial production to July 1993 and a resultant additional cost of Rs.700 lakhs, The company has adopted the system of direct intake of water from the sea for the farm and hatchery, which is the first of its kind in the country.

The company commenced trial production in January, 1993 and dates of commercial production of the integrated aquaculture unit are as below:

The Company commenced its operations in phases as above and at the four operating units have been functioning together from 1st January 1994.

PRESENT BUSINESS

The Company is running an 100% integrated aquaculture export oriented unit consisting of hatchery, grow-out farm, feed mill and process plant. The hatchery is capable of producing 70 million prawn seeds per annum, The grow out farm has a water spread area of 110 hectares and climate is suitable for achieving two harvests a year. The process plant has an annual capacity to process about 1712 MT. of prawns on a single shift
basis. The feed plant is cap of manufacturing 15000 MT. of feed per annum.

The Company does not have any subsidiary company.

2003
-Waterbase Ltd has signed a pact with INVE of Belgium to tap R&D expertise of INVE.

2008

- Waterbase Ltd has appointed Lt Gen Deepak Summanwar as Additional Director of the Company with effect from January 28, 2008.

2011
-The Board has considered the Issue of shares in proportion of one equity share for every two equity shares held at a face value of Rs. 10/- each.

2013
-Waterbase Ltd proposed rights issue of the Company.
-Waterbase has announced Rights in the Ratio of 1:2

2014
-Board of Directors of the Company have appointed Mr. Varun Aditya Thapar as Additional director of the Board.

2015
-The Waterbase Ltd, a leading manufacturer of high quality shrimp feed, has launched 'Bay White Enriched', a new generation shrimp feed formulated with essential nutrients required for producing healthy shrimps.

2016
-"The Waterbase Ltd. wins Best Practices award from Frost & Sullivan".

2019
-The Waterbase Limited has been adjudged as the winner bf "SME Empowering India Awards 2019 in the Mid-size corporate segment under the category Food, Agro and Horticulture category.
