Indian Markets Open Flat; Asia Remains Subdued
Benchmark indices opened the day flat, following solid 2-per cent gains seen on Monday with most of Asia also having a quiet session.
Tata Steel was trading with gains following reports that the company has accepted seven expressions of interest for the sale of its UK business. The stock was up 0.50 per cent in early trade.
Alstom was trading with losses, following a drop in quarterly profits at the company. Banking stocks were mostly lower with ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and Syndicate Bank among the early losers in trade.
Grasim was trading with losses, despite a better than expected set of results. The stock was down 0.50 per cent in trade.
Midcap stocks were having a good session with Jindal Steel and TVS Motors among the early gainers.
Ricoh India was again in the limelight after reports that the small shareholders would move the Court against the company's board and directors.
Meanwhile, most of Asia was trading mixed with the Shnaghai Composite marginally nhigher, while Hang Sang and the Japanese Nikkei were lower in trade.
