Up till now, the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), India' retirement fund body, would only inform you if your employer made contributions to your EPF (Employees Provident Fund) account via SMS or email. However, it will now inform you if the contribution is not made to your account for the month in due time.

The EPFO statement said, "The members whose contributions are not deposited in time remain uninformed. In order to bring more transparency, it has been decided that an intimation by way of SMS/email shall be sent to members (who have registered their Mobile Number/email ID against respective Universal Account Number) in respect of whom contribution has not been deposited by the employer with EPFO for a given month in due time."
EPFO has been taking various initiatives to improve its services for account holders like checking EPF balance through missed call or using the government app UMANG to access your e-passbook on your smartphone.
