Nifty Ends Higher, Britannia Top Loser

Benchmark indices ended the day higher after trading between losses and gains. Weak openings across Europe pushed the indices in the red before a recovery in the last 1 hour.

The Nifty ended the day with gains of 41 points. Banking stocks saw good gains and helped pushed the indices into the green. Shares of Britannia were the biggest loser in trade, dropping by almost 4 per cent.

Shares in Hindustan Zinc gained almost 4.5 per cent, after the company's board declared a good dividend of Rs 21.30 per share.

The company reported a 7 per cent year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit at Rs 1,940 crore for the second quarter of the financial year 2021, as against Rs 2,081 crore during the same quarter last year.

Nifty Ends Higher, Britannia Top Loser

Bajaj Finance and Bajaj Finserv, both were among the top 5 losers from the Nifty space. From the midcap space ICICI Securities had a weak session in trade with the stock dropping almost 3 per cent.

Aditya Birla Capital was the top gainer from the Midcap Nifty jumping 8 per cent in trade. Meanwhile, most European markets were trading with losses led by the German DAX, which fell as much as 1.25 per cent in trade.
