Sensex Adds 282 Points, Nifty Tops 12860; Bajaj Finserv Jumps 9 Percent

Towards the later part of the trade, benchmark indices staged a smart recovery as there was seen buying in IT, NBFC and FMCG space. At the closing, Nifty settled at 12859.05, up 87 points or 0.68%, while Sensex ended with gains of 282.29 points or 0.65% at 43882.25. Broader markets too were outperforming the major indices.

Nifty Financial Services rallied in today's deal gaining over 2 per cent led by HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv and HDFC Life.

Top gainers on the Sensex on the last trading day of the week have been Bajaj Finserv, Titan, Bajaj Finance, Kotak Mahindra while laggards include Reliance, Sun Pharma, ONGC, IndusInd Bank and Axis Bank

Interglobe Aviation stock price fell after reports suggested that flights between Delhi-Mumbai may be temporarily suspended owing to Covid 19 threat. As of now, Delhi is said to witness the third Covid 19 wave, while Maharashtra will experience second wave by January.

Bharti Infratel shares surged by up to 20 per cent in trade today on completion of its long-pending merger with Indus Towers.

Gland Pharma which made a strong debut today ended with superb gains of close to 22 percent.

Meanwhile, European markets at the time of writing this copy traded with gains of up to 0.51% on the French CAC. However, US stock futures were down with Dow Futures dragged the most, pointing to a weak start for the US markets.
