Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas New Rules In August 2026: eKYC Deadline To Booking, 7 Changes In Gas Cylinders

Several new rules are announced for Indian households' gas cylinder usage in August 2026. The biggest is the second time cut in commercial LPG prices, despite elevated crude oil prices. Apart from this, LPG customers covered under the PMUY scheme are directed to complete their e-KYC before August 16, 2026, or else they will be ineligible to receive the LPG subsidy benefits. Furthermore, oil marketing companies are expanding their express delivery of newly launched cylinders such as HP Navya, Indane Xtralite Now, and Bharatgas Lite ZIP, which come in 10 kg cylinders. Additionally, other LPG surrendering, refilling, booking, and switching PNG rules remain the same in August 2026.

1. Commercial LPG Prices Cut In August 2026:

With effect from August 1, 2026, commercial LPG prices, which come in the variant of 19 Kg is lowered for the second consecutive month. In August, 19 Kg LPG is cheaper by Rs 192 to 209 across major cities.

In Delhi, the commercial LPG price dropped by Rs 192 to Rs 2,738, while in Mumbai, the price dipped by Rs 194 to Rs 2,691.50 per cylinder. In Kolkata, LPG is down by Rs 209 to Rs 2,872.50 and in Chennai, 19 Kg cylinder price is lower by Rs 200 to Rs 2,906 per cylinder.

2. Domestic LPG Prices Unchanged In August 2026:

However, 14.2 kg LPG prices remain unchanged for second consecutive month. That said, a 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder continues to be available at Rs 942 in Delhi, at Rs 968 in Kolkata, at Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, and at Rs 957.50 in Chennai.

3. Aadhaar e-KYC For Indane Gas, Bharat Gas, HP Gas Cylinders:

Many domestic LPG customers are receiving messages from OMCs to complete their Aadhaar-based eKYC if they are covered under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

The message reads as, "Dear customer, you are required to do e-KYC for receiving LPG cylinder at domestic rates. Despite earlier reminders, you have not done your e-KYC so far. You can do e-KYC at your home through the IndianOil ONE App or at your distributor or through the delivery personnel. Failure to do e-KYC by 16.08.26 would make you ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. Kindly complete your e-KYC at the earliest."

Under PMUY, the government is offering subsidy on 4 LPG refills compared to earlier 9 refills per year.

4. Bharat Lite Zip, HP Navya, Indane XTRALITE Now

While Indane is the latest to join the bandwagon of launching an innovative 10 Kg composite LPG cylinder via express delivery. Currently, Indane XtraLite is offered in cities like Pune, Gurugram, Indore and Coimbatore and is going to expand to additional 25 cities by mid-August. Major cities are expected to welcome XTRALITE NOW cylinders by end of October 2026.

Along the similar lines, BPCL's Bharat Lite Zip is expected to reach over 100 cities across 24 cities by August 15, 2026.

Furthermore, HPCL's newly launched HP Navya, which is also a composite 10 Kg cylinder, is being sold on Swiggy's Instamart for households in Bengaluru.

5. LPG-PNG Switch

The rule to switch to PNG if there is an infrastructure available for piped natural gas in your locality, will continue in August 2026. The government has made it mandatory that one household will have only one cooking gas, either LPG or PNG. But wherever PNG facility is available, households must switch to PNG mandatorily.

6. LPG Termination Rules

Apart from the normal surrender rules for LPG when changing locations, the government has made it mandatory to terminate Indane Gas, HP Gas and Bharat Gas connections within 30-days timespan once switched to PNG completely.

However, customers can avail a transfer voucher to reconnect with LPG cylinders, if moving to non-PNG area.

7. Gas Cylinder Booking & Refilling Rule

Additionally, the other booking and refilling rules continue to be in-place. The government has directed to book LPG cylinders through digital method instead of queuing at LPG distributors. All you have to do is book online and the LPG personnel will deliver the gas cylinders at your home.

Further, during LPG delivery, the customer will receive a (Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) aka OTP on their registered mobile number, which needs to be given for the competition of the delivery. If you do not have OTP then your delivery will be returned. This is to ensure that genuine customers receive their LPGs.

Lastly, the LPG refill lock-in period continues to be 25-days for urban customers and 45-days for rural customers.
