Uttar Pradesh is one of the most popular states located in the northern part of India. It has a dense population of more than 200 million people. The total number of newly registered vehicles during 2016-2017 has surged rapidly when compared to the previous year.

The total number of two-wheeler registered during 2016-2017 stood at 19,74,792 as against 19,21,003 during 2015-2016. The total number of vehicles registration for 2016-2017 touched 23,80,935 as against 23,27,493 during the previous year.

Increase in population has led to the increase in the purchase of a number of vehicles which in turn will lead to the more usage of fuel.

The petrol prices in the country change regularly on a daily basis and this will come into effect starting from 6 am in the morning. The highest petrol price recorded in the state of Uttar Pradesh dates back to September 1, 2013, at Rs 81.13 per litre.

The lowest price in the state was recorded on May 1, 2013, at Rs 69.24 per litre.

The prices of petrol in Uttar Pradesh will be in sync with the prices of the fuel in the international market and the same will be fixed by the state-run oil marketing companies in India. The price of petrol as on August 2, 2018, in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh stands at Rs 77.15 per litre.

Petrol prices in Uttar Pradesh have always been one of the most triggering points in India. Being the biggest state in terms of population, petrol price is would always be the center of talk in the country among people. As of November 24, 2020 the price in the state is around Rs 95.26 per liter, after big relief by the government earlier this month.

The price of petrol in the state fluctuates on regular basis. In the past couple of weeks, the price witnessed tremendous ups and downs. In the month of October, the price opened at the rate of Rs 98.95 per month. Compared to the closing price tag in September the price was hiked. Whereas, on October 31, 2020 the price of petrol was around Rs 106.20 per month, the highest in October. This shows how the price of petrol is going these days in the state.

The ups and downs in petrol price are determined by the changes in the international price of crude oil and international affairs. Other than this, the tax imposed by the respective state and the central government such as import and excise duty is also the responsible price of petrol in the state. A few rupee cuts in the excise duty or any other tax could bring a major change in the retail price of petrol in the state.

It is expected that with growing demand and the pressure on the government, in near future the price might witness a slow down as it happened in the past couple of weeks by the government. Also, the international crude oil price is going through many ups and downs indicating some relief to the oil-consuming countries like India.

Over the last few days, petrol and diesel prices in the various cities of Uttar Pradesh have soared by almost Rs 8. This is not good news for consumers as things begin to get increasingly costly.
