Bengaluru weather update: The city is on the brink of a scorching summer, with the India Meteorological Department predicting above-normal temperatures and possible heatwave conditions from March 2026. While no active heatwave alert has been issued for Karnataka weather today, February 26, IMD has warned that the coming months could bring harsher-than-usual conditions across Bengaluru and several other districts.

According to IMD projections, summer in Bengaluru will officially begin on March 1, with temperatures expected to jump during April and May.
Bengaluru Weather Today, February 26th
As of this morning, Bengaluru's temperature today stands at around 21°C, with humidity levels at 83% in the early hours. The city is covered with clear skies, and the day is expected to remain partly sunny, with the maximum temperature expected to be around 32°C.
As per data from Ease Weather, Bangalore weather in February began with average highs of 30.1°C, gradually rising to nearly 31.7°C toward the end. So far, February 2026 has been slightly cooler than historical averages by about -1.1°C, but temperatures in the coming days are forecast to spike to 34.1°C toward warmer-than-usual conditions.
Historically, Bengaluru weather has recorded extreme summer peaks. The city touched 39.2°C in April 2016, while May's all-time record stands at 38.9°C (1931). IMD data suggests that the city could once again approach the 39°C mark in the coming months.
Heatwave Risk In Karnataka From March To May
While no heatwave alert in Karnataka has been announced as of now, IMD forecasts say that there is a high probability of above-normal maximum temperatures statewide. Coastal regions have a 65-75% probability of temperature spikes, while northern interior Karnataka may face the highest risk of severe heatwaves during peak summer.
Districts such as Bagalkot, Koppal, and Belagavi in north interior Karnataka are likely to experience intense heat. South interior districts, including Mysuru and Davangere, are also bracing for elevated temperatures. Coastal areas like Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada already have temperatures touching 37-39°C due to high humidity levels.
For Bengaluru weather in March 2026, IMD expects daytime heat and hotter-than-usual nights.
Heatwave Precautions for Residents
Taking the Bengaluru heatwave prediction for 2026 seriously, authorities have issued an advisory for residents to prepare for the tough summer ahead.
- Stay hydrated; drink water frequently.
- Avoid direct sun exposure between 12 PM and 3 PM.
- Wear light cotton clothing.
- Monitor official updates via the IMD official website and social media channels.
