The Domestic LPG (14.2 kg) price in West Bengal (Kolkata) stands at ₹829.00. No change recorded in the LPG price compared to last month. Over the past 12 months, the LPG price trend has been decreasing, with a decrease of ₹300 from May 2023 to April 2024. The most significant price increase was ₹71 in October 2023 and the most significant price decrease was ₹200 in August 2023.

How will the IVRS system identify the customer?

The IVRS is a tool which is used to book for ordering a refilled cylinder. Once the customer selects the language option as per the preference and moves on he/she will have to type in the distributor’s telephone number along with STD code to proceed further. Once the distributor is identified, the system will ask the customer to enter the 17 digit consumer number. One can cross-check for the consumer number in the refill cash memo or in the gas book issued by the distributor. On entering the consumer number, the IVR system will prompt the user relating to the prefix or suffix alphabets to take the inputs accordingly.

For Example: If the consumer number is 548796, B548796, H548796, then the system will prompt the customer to enter 1 for 548796, enter 2 for B548796 and enter 3 for H548796 respectively for booking the refilled LPG cylinder.

How can a customer book for a refilled cylinder if they are using Indane gas using IVRS?

Once the IVR system, identifies distributor and customer number properly, the system will ask for the option of refill booking along with other services. The consumer now has to opt for refill booking by pressing 1, in case of complaints enter 2 and for inquiring about last booking enter 3.

On selecting the option for refill booking, refill booking will be taken along with the booking reference number will be generated and the same will be sent to the registered mobile number via SMS.

How to Book Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) via Online?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) can be booked online as well as offline. The advancement of technology has paved way for refill booking comfortably just at a click of the button. All the major LPG providers – Indane, Bharat Gas, HP Gas have their own online LPG booking services.

  • First, visit the homepage of the respective service provider.
  • Login using your user id and password after registering yourself.
  • After this, proceed further and check for refill booking option on the menu page.
  • Follow the given instructions accordingly by entering your Consumer ID, Service Provider (Gas Agency Name) and other relevant details.
  • You will get a pop-up message on the screen which reads that your refill cylinder has been booked successfully.

If the usage is more than 12 cylinders per year then the customers will have to bear the full market price of the LPG cylinders.

The following are the safety tips to follow at the time of taking the delivery of refilled LPG Cylinders:

  • Ensure you are buying filled LPG Cylinders from an authorized dealer.
  • Never accept the cylinder if the seal is broken.
  • Always check the company seal and safety cap fixed on the LPG cylinder at the time of delivery.
  • Look for the due date of testing. The due date of testing will be marked on the inner side of the cylinder stay plate. It will be marked by an alphabet representing quarters A – March, B – June, C – September and D – December and the year of testing. (For Example: If the date of testing is mentioned as D – 21, it means that the cylinder needs to be tested by December 2021.
  • Check for the gas leakage, if any, by applying soap solution on cylinder joints and Suraksha pipes at the time of changing the empty gas cylinder with new ones.
  • Never use open flames to check leaks.

Prominent providers of LPG cylinders in the region encompass HP Gas (HPCL), Bharat Gas (BPCL), and Indane Gas (Indian Oil Corporation). Notably, a 19 kg cylinder is priced at Rs 1,911, a 5 kg cylinder at Rs 308.50, and a 47.5 kg cylinder at Rs 4,774.50.
