Sensex Ends Lower; Infosys Surges, Sun Pharma Slumps
Benchmark indices ended the day lower trade, even as Infosys surged a huge 10 per cent following a superb set of quarterly numbers. Check Sensex gainers and losers
Most of the tech stocks ended the day higher including HCL Tech and Tech Mahindra. Shares in Sun Pharma ended the day a huge 14 per cent lower after the company issued a revenue and profits warning.
FMCG stocks were very weak in trade with ITC and Hindustan Unilever among the losers. Shares in Asian Paints ended the day lower despite a good set of quarterly numbers.
HDFC Bank saw selling pressure after its asset quality deteriorated slightly.
Mid cap stocks saw some selling pressure led by declines in CESC, Concor and Havells. Bharti Airtel was among the star Nifty performers today after reports that Orange may acquire Bharti Airtel's arms in Burkina Faso, Chad, Congo and Sierra Leone.
Shares in Tinplate surged a huge 12 per cent after its quarterly numbers beat estimates. Meanwhile, it was a quiet session for markets across the globe. European markets were trading flat with a slight negative bias. The German DAX, French CAC and the UK's FTSE were lower.
