Sensex Ends The Day Lower On Weak Global Cues
Benchmark indices ended the day lower, as global cues remained weak, particularly in Asia and Europe. Record highs in the US failed to improve sentiments across Asia and Europe.
Asian markets were lower, led by losses at the Japanese Nikkei, which lost ground after the yen gained against the US dollar. Other Asian markets also ended slightly weak and Europe was trading with losses.

Sun Pharma ended the day lower despite reporting a good set of numbers. Aditya Birla Nouvo, which lost heavy ground on Friday, following the merger with Grasim, saw no respite. The stock once again was down and ended 3.5 per cent lower.
Metal stocks had a good day in trade with Hindalco and Vendata among the gainers. Apart from Sun Pharma the other losers were HDFC and Bharti Airtel.
State Bank of India which reported a good set of results and surged on Friday, continued its upward momentum. Other PSU banking stocks, however, dropped on profit booking.
Meanwhile, the rupee was last trading at 66.83 to the US dollar.
