Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has officially confirmed that her wedding with music composer Palash Muchhal will not take place.

After weeks of intense scrutiny and speculation, she issued a heartfelt public note on Sunday, asking for space and privacy while reaffirming her commitment to cricket and her country.
Mandhana Addresses Rumours
Mandhana's statement comes after widespread conversations about her personal life. She acknowledged how difficult the situation had become amid constant attention.
"Over the past few weeks there has been plenty of speculation around my life and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I need to clarify that the wedding is called off," she wrote.
A Call for Privacy for Both Families
The cricketer appealed for sensitivity as both families work through the development on their own terms. She highlighted the emotional toll that the chatter surrounding her cancelled wedding had caused.
"I would like to close this matter here and implore all of you to do the same. I request you to please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us the space to process and move on at our own pace," Mandhana said.
Focus Shifts Back to Cricket
In her note, Mandhana emphasised that her dedication to representing India remains unchanged. She reiterated that her long-standing purpose has always been to contribute to the national team.
"I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible and that is where my focus will forever be," she added.

Moving Ahead with Grace
Mandhana concluded her message by expressing gratitude for the support she has received and signalling her intention to turn the page.
"Thank you for all your support. It's time to move forward," she wrote in the Instagram post.
