Gas Cylinder E-KYC Deadline Missed: Can You Still Complete E-KYC Of Indane, HP, Bharat Gas? Know Impacts
The gas cylinder deadline of August 16 is gone, and many Indian households who failed to complete their e-KYC may find difficulties in their LPG services. Failure to complete e-KYC could lead to suspension of LPG connection, paying commercial rates on LPG cylinders, and you might not be able to even refill your cooking gas. Since the deadline is gone, can you still complete the LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication?
Before answering the last question, let's first understand the impact and the latest development since August 16, 2026, in gas cylinders.

1. Indane Gas, HP Gas & Bharat Gas Connections Cancelled?
Your gas cylinder connection will not entirely be cancelled, but the chance of temporary suspension is likely. BPCL had already warned its Bharat Gas users to complete e-KYC or face temporary suspension in LPG connections. So that is one impact!
2. Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Refilling Stopped?
While there is no official statement regarding whether you can continue to refill your LPG cylinders even after missing the August 16 e-KYC deadline. However, reports have stated that thousands of customers cannot refill their respective gas cylinders.
As per LPG distributors from various states, customers are approaching for cylinders; however, they are not able to supply them because they have not completed their e-KYC. This was happening even before the deadline.
So there is a possibility if you are not getting your LPG refills, non-completion of e-KYC could be the reason. However, customers who have already completed their e-KYC and still face such issues, they ought to file a complaint at the respective gas cylinder provider to understand the issue.
3. Indane Gas, HP Gas, Bharat Gas Prices To Rise
This one impact is likely to be faced by Indane Gas, HP Gas, and Bharat Gas customers who have not completed their e-KYC by August 16.
The previous Indian Oil message said, "Dear customer, you are required to do e-KYC for receiving LPG cylinder at domestic rates. Despite earlier reminders, you have not done your e-KYC so far. You can do e-KYC at your home through IndianOil ONE App or at your distributor or through the delivery personnel. Failure to do e-KYC by 16.08.26 would make you ineligible for cylinders at domestic rates till e-KYC is completed. Kindly complete your e-KYC at the earliest."
The keyword is "in-eligible for domestic rates"! The All India LPG Distributors Federation earlier said that those customers who failed to complete their e-KYC before the deadline, might have to pay commercial rates on domestic LPG cylinders. Now, neither Indian Oil, BPCL and HPCL has clarified on the new prices of domestic LPG cylinders if e-KYC missed. Hence, GoodReturns cannot confirm the same.
But taking into consideration the above, here's what we can understand. Currently, the market price for domestic Indane Gas LPG cylinders in 14.2 Kg is at Rs 942 in Delhi, at Rs 968 in Kolkata, Rs 941.50 in Mumbai, and at Rs 957.50 per cylinder in Chennai.
If you are a PMUY member, the domestic rates are lower by Rs 300 due to LPG subsidy on your 14.2 Kg LPG cylinders. This reduces your paying amount. If a Rs 300 subsidy were applied, your purchase price on 14.2 Kg LPG cylinders would be around Rs 642 in Delhi, at Rs 668 in Kolkata, at Rs 641.5 in Mumbai and at Rs 657.50 in Chennai.
However, the commercial rates for LPG cylinders in August is at Rs 2,738 in Delhi, at Rs 2,691.50 in Mumbai, at RS 2,872.50 in Kolkata and at RS 2,906 in Chennai.
So if you become ineligible for domestic rates on LPGs due to missing e-KYC and if commercial rates are applied, then you are paying Rs 1,796 extra on domestic LPG in Delhi (Rs 2,738 - Rs 942). The same impact could be seen across states.
It needs to be noted that these are based on media reports and speculations. It is advisable to contact your LPG distributor or oil companies directly for the latest updates and impacts.

The LPG biometric Aadhaar authentication is not banned after the deadline. Customers can still complete their e-KYC. However, the delay could lead to the above-mentioned impacts.
LPG Gas Cylinder E-KYC Deadline Extended?
According to Times of India report, e-KYC deadline for LPG cylinders are extended to August 23, however, consumers are struggling to complete the mandatory process due to server glitches. There is immense rush for completing e-KYC.
