Sensex Ends Lower Again As European Markets Slump
Benchmark indices ended the day lower for the second straight session, as weak European cues dragged indices lower.
The Sensex dropped 207 points, while the Nifty fell 59 points on sustained selling pressure. Leading the set of gainers was Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, HDFC, Vedanta, L&T, Tata Steel.
Coal India, ONGC, Lupin and Bharti were the top losers. ICICI Bank continued to decline for the third straight day and has been fallen ever since the company reported a poor set of quarterly numbers. The stock dropped another 2 per cent in trade.
Midcaps also saw a good bit of selling pressure with the index down almost 1 per cent in trade. TVS Motors was the biggest loser from the space dropping almost 7 per cent.
Emmbi Industries surged 17 per cent, after the company got recognition as R & D Centre by Ministry of Science & Technology.
Ramco Suystems also gained after the company said that it has bagged a contract from Australian company Viabux.
Meanwhile, markets across Europe were trading with steep losses, led by the German DAX and the French CAC.
