Nifty Trades Flat As Asian Markets See Losses

Benchmark indices were trading flat as global cues remained subdued following a drop in Asian indices.

The Sensex was trading with gains of 6 points, while the Nifty was trading with gains of 2 points. Tata Motors, which reported profits that lagged estimates was trading with marginal losses. Check Nifty gainers and losers

Metal stocks were the early gainers after a sharp rally in the Shanghai Composite. Hindalco Industries, Vedanta and NMDC were among the early gainers.

IT stocks were also lending support to the markets with stocks like Infosys and TCS among the early gainers.

Banking stocks were witnessing some gains in early trade with shares of HDFC Bank, State Bank of India and IndusInd Bank among the early gainers.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) which reported a poor set of results continued to lose ground in trade. The stock had dropped as much as 6 per cent in trade on Friday.

Mid cap stocks also saw some buying interest with Britannia and IOC among the early gainers. However, JP Associates declined after reporting a poor set of numbers.

Meanwhile, markets across Asia were trading with losses, though the Shanghai Composite jumped a huge 3 per cent in early trade.
