Passport Offices in Kerala
Kerala has three Regional Passport Offices (RPOs), in Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. They are supported by Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) across the state. Below are the address, contact number, email and ATM facility for each centre.
Kerala issues a very large number of passports every year, much of it driven by work and family travel to the Gulf. Booking early and choosing the right centre can save you time. Every application starts online on the Passport Seva portal, followed by a visit to your chosen PSK or POPSK.

Which Regional Passport Office covers your district in Kerala?
Your application is processed by the RPO that covers your current address, even if you book your appointment at another centre.
- RPO Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Pathanamthitta.
- RPO Kochi (Cochin): Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam, Alappuzha, Idukki and Palakkad, plus Lakshadweep.
- RPO Kozhikode: Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad, plus Mahe (Puducherry).
Choosing the right centre
- PSK: Kerala has PSKs in most major towns, so many applicants can find one within easy reach.
- POPSK: Head post office counters with the same services. These are useful in towns without a PSK.
- RPO: Visit only for files on hold, grievances or when asked to come in.
How to apply for a passport in Kerala
- Register on the Passport Seva portal (passportindia.gov.in) or the mPassport Seva app.
- Fill in the form, choose Normal or Tatkaal, and pay the fee online.
- Book a slot at any PSK or POPSK in Kerala.
- Visit on the appointment day with original documents and self-attested copies.
- Complete police verification when the Kerala Police contact you.
- Track your status online. The passport arrives by Speed Post.
Useful tips for Kerala applicants
- Plan around peak seasons: Appointment slots fill quickly before school vacations and the Gulf travel seasons. Book a few weeks ahead.
- Renewing while abroad: If you live in the Gulf or elsewhere overseas, renew through the Indian Embassy or Consulate in that country, not through a centre in Kerala.
- Spouse's name: To add or change a spouse's name, carry a marriage certificate or the required annexure, as advised by the portal's document advisor.
- Lakshadweep residents are served by RPO Kochi. Mahe residents are served by RPO Kozhikode.
Documents to carry to your appointment
- Appointment receipt or Application Reference Number (ARN)
- Proof of address: Aadhaar card, voter ID, utility bill, bank passbook or registered rent agreement
- Proof of date of birth: birth certificate, school leaving certificate, PAN card or Aadhaar card
- Your old passport, for renewal or re-issue
- For minors: the parents' passports or ID proof, plus Annexure forms where needed
Carry originals and one set of self-attested photocopies.
The document advisor on the Passport Seva portal shows the exact list for your case.
Stay safe from fake websites and agents
Apply only through the official Passport Seva portal or the mPassport Seva app. Look-alike websites charge extra for the same service, and you do not need an agent to get a passport in Kerala. For any problem, contact your RPO using the details listed on this page.
