Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti: Kabir Jayanti is observed in honour of Sant Kabir Das who is believed to have lived in India during the 15 Century. It is an annual event which is observed to mark the birth anniversary of Kabir Das who was a renowned saint, poet and social reformer. His poems and works describe the greatness and oneness of the supreme almighty – God. His birth anniversary falls on the Purnima (full moon day) as per the Hindu calendar month of Jyeshta. His poems are popularly known as ‘Kabir keDohe’.

Bakrid: Eid–ul-Adha is also called as Bakrid. The day is celebrated to honour Prophet Abraham. It is believed that Abraham was a great devotee of God and he was tested for the same. He was asked to sacrifice his only son. Abraham or Ibrahim followed the command of God and was ready to sacrifice his son. Later, God intervened and during the act, a lamb was sacrificed instead of Ibrahim’s son. The day is marked by sacrificing an animal or lamb and is divided into three parts. One share is kept for the family and the remaining will be shared with the poor and needy people.
