The central government has declared a holiday on the second and fourth week of Saturday as a bank holiday. All the banks including public, private, and nationalized, will remain closed on these days. Banks like Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, IndusInd Bank and South Indian Bank and so on will remain closed on these two days.
Buddha Purnima: The government has declared a holiday on the occasion of Buddha Purnima, which marks the birth anniversary of Gautama Buddha the founder of Buddhism. It is celebrated on the full moon day of the Vaisakha masa. The public holiday for Buddha Purnima was initiated by Dr B. R. Ambedkar when he was the minister of social justice.
Jawaharlal Nehru’s Death Anniversary will be observed every year (annually) on May 27. He was the first prime minister of Independent India. In some parts of the country, cultural programs will be organized to remember the great leader. In some places, speeches will be arranged to make people aware of the visions of Jawaharlal Nehru. The banks will remain open on Jawaharlal Nehru’s Death Anniversary, and it is not a public holiday.
