In October 2024, banks will remain closed for almost ten days in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from regular bank holidays i..e Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, banks in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for two more days on account of Gandhi Jayanthi (October 2), Dusshera (October 12), Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti (October 17), and Deepavali (October 31).

In October, apart from regular holidays, and two national holidays banks will function as normal in the UT. Banks in Madhya Pradesh will remain closed for almost eight days in the state in October 2024. All the banks including ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, Federal Bank and Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited will remain closed on bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh.

Apart from regional holidays, Madhya Pradesh has regional holidays.

Thus, if banks in other states are open on a certain date it is not necessary that banks in Madhya Pradesh will also remain open on that day. During these bank holidays in Madhya Pradesh, the banks are closed. As per an understanding between the Indian Banks' Association and All India Bank Employees Association, all public sector banks in Madhya Pradesh and other states of India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

Dussehra: It is a Hindu festival. Nav-Ratri means 9 nights and during these nights Goddess Shakti is worshipped in nine different forms. The festival is celebrated with fervour and tourists from across the country throng Ujjain during this season. People take a holy dip in the river Shipra during the Navratri period. Special desserts and delicacies will be prepared during this period. People wear new clothes and get dressed up to participate in the Garba Ras dances which will be performed especially during the Navratri period.
