CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is a form of alternative fuel which is used to run vehicles. It mainly consists of methane and is drawn from gas wells or is extracted in conjunction with the production of crude oil. The fuel is cheaper when compared with petrol and diesel. Apart from this it is also environmentally friendly and emits a lesser amount of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide. It is considered as clean fuel as it is lighter than air and will dissipate easily in the atmospheric air in case of leak giving it a significant safety advantage when compared with LPG or gasoline.

CNG is usually used in big vehicles as its cylinders are huge and occupy too much of space making it suitable to use in buses, trucks and other big vehicles. The natural gas will be compressed to more than 3,000 pounds per square inch, which shrinks its volume to 1 per cent of what it will be at normal atmospheric pressure and is stored in spherically shaped cylinders.
It is usually stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of 2,900 – 3,600 psi.
The CNG prices in Sonipat will not remain constant and is subject to change on a regular basis of once in a month. The international crude prices and currency exchange rate are the two factors which will affect the CNG rates at Sonipat.
