Aadhar Card Services

The initiative by the government of India to provide a unique identification number to all the residents in India is yielding fruitful results.

The UIDAI has so far enrolled more than 92% of the total residents in the country with respect to aadhar card. Despite being a tedious task, the UIDAI has come up with many aadhar enrollment centres across the length and breadth of the country wherein people can check, verify or manage various facilities that will increase the portability and acceptance of the 12 – digit biometric identity proof. The aadhar card services are available round the clock for 365 days in the year and are absolutely free of cost.

The following are some of the aadhar card services provided by the UIDAI to all the resident Indians:

Aadhar Number Verification

  • One can get the aadhar number verification by visiting the aadhar verification option in the aadhar services section.
  • Aadhar number can be verified whether it is an authentic document or a forged one.
  • By entering the aadhar number and the security code.
  • The verification results show if the aadhar number exists or not.
  • Click on the verify button and check the authenticity of aadhar.
  • If in case, the aadhar number is valid, add other details like age, gender, state, last three digits of the registered mobile number.
  • This feature helps the individuals to check and verify any one’s aadhar details.
  • It is not mandatory for anyone to link their mobile number with aadhar to avail off this facility.

Mobile/E-mail Number Verification

  • This facility will be available only if your mobile number is registered with the UIDAI.
  • This facility enables you to check if your mobile number or email address is mentioned or not in the Aadhaar card.
  • This facility can be used only by the holder of aadhar and no one else can run this verification on behalf of you.
  • One can either verify your email id or mobile number at a time.

Procedure for Verifying Email or Mobile Number from Aadhar Services Menu

  • Visit the UIDAI official website
  • Click on “My Aadhaar” option
  • Select the ‘Verify Email/Mobile Number’ option under Aadhaar Services

  • Now enter your 12 digit aadhaar number in the box, followed by your email id, mobile number and enter the security code as shown in the page
  • Proceeding further click on ‘Get OTP’ button
  • An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
  • Now enter this OTP in the space provided and click on verify option
  • The result will be displayed which will show whether your mobile number is linked with aadhaar or not.
  • If in case, your mobile number is registered, then the last 3 digits of the number will be displayed.

Aadhaar Bank Linking Status

  • The aadhar card services provide one to check the latest bank account linked with your aadhaar number.
  • If in case, you have not linked any of your bank accounts with aadhaar, a message related to the issue will get displayed.
  • One has to make sure that they have linked their mobile number with aadhaar before availing this facility.
  • Usually, the aadhaar linking information is fetched from the NPCI server.
  • No information accessed from servers of NPCI will be stored by UIDAI.

Check Aadhaar Linking Status with Bank

  • Visit the official web page of UIDAI.
  • Click on “My Aadhaar” option
  • Select ‘Check Aadhaar/Bank Linking Status’ option under Aadhaar Services
  • Now enter the 12 digit aadhaar card number in the space provided followed by the security code as shown in the screen.
  • Now click on Send OTP button.
  • An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
  • Enter the OTP and click on the submit button.
  • The bank accounts which are linked with the Aadhaar will get displayed on the screen.

Biometric Locking/ Unlocking

The aadhaar biometric locking or unlocking is one of the most effectively used security feature of aadhaar card services. This facility allows an individual to lock their respective biometric details and prevents the same from being misused. Once a person locks their respective biometric data, their fingerprints and iris scan will be disabled. One can unlock it temporarily if they wish to use their biometric. Once unlocked, the biometric authentication will remain active for 10 minutes to enable the user to carry out their task. After completion of 10 minutes, the biometric data will be locked automatically. If in case, you do not want to add this protection then you can disable the same by unlocking the biometric lock.

Aadhaar Biometric Lock/Unlock

  • Visit the official web page of UIDAI.
  • Click on “My Aadhaar” option
  • Select ‘Lock/Unlock Biometric’ option under Aadhaar Services
  • This will take you to a new web page wherein you have to enter your 12 digit aadhaar number, followed by Security Code.
  • Select the option either Send OTP or Enter TOTP
  • In case, if you select OTP, an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number
  • Enter this OTP and click on the login option
  • Enter the security code to authenticated and click on the Lock button to lock your biometric information
  • If you want to unlock your biometric, then you will have to login again to the aadhaar database
  • But here, you will be asked to choose either Unlock or Disable option
  • If you are looking to temporarily unlock your biometric for a single verification, you can unlock the biometric.
  • If you do not want to shield your biometric data, then you can click on disable the option to remove the lock from your Aadhaar biometric permanently
  • You can lock your biometric again whenever you want
  • Biometric lock/unlock option is also available in the mAadhaar app which is the official app of the UIDAI.
  • Whenever the biometric is locked for the very first time, then it usually takes up close to 6 hours for the lock to be implemented completely.

Aadhaar Authentication

The aadhaar authentication history helps the users to know the transactions wherein aadhaar has been invoked for authentication. The following is the procedure for checking the aadhaar authentication:

Step 1: Visit the official web page of UIDAI.
Step 2: Click on “My Aadhaar” option
Step 3: Select ‘Aadhaar Authentication History’ option under Aadhaar Services
Step 4: Now enter the 12 digit aadhaar card number in the space provided followed by the security code as shown in the screen.
Step 5: Now click on Send OTP button.
Step 6: Now select the date range, authentication type, number of results and the OTP will be sent to your phone.
Step 7: Now click on the submit button.
Step 8: All the results related to aadhaar authentication history will be displayed on the screen wherein transaction ID, date, authentication type and other details will be shown.

Virtual ID Generation (VID)

The virtual identification is a 16 digit temporary code which is generated against an aadhar number. This number will be usually issued and used instead of aadhar number. An applicant need not have to share his aadhar card if he/she provides the VID. All the agencies will have to make necessary provisions to accept the VIDs in place of Aadhaar at the earliest by June 1, 2018. These VID’s can be generated by visiting the official web page of UIDAI and by following the below mentioned steps:

Step 1: Visit the official web page of UIDAI.
Step 2: Click on the option “Virtual ID (VID) Generator” option which comes under Aadhaar Services

Step 3: Now enter the aadhaar number followed by the security code and click on the Send OTP option.
Step 4: Enter the OTP which you will receive on your mobile number and select the option whether you want to generate or retrieve your VID
Step 5: Proceeding further click on the submit button.
Step 6: A Virtual ID will be generated and will be sent to your registered mobile number.
