Linking Aadhaar Card to Different Documents

Since its introduction to date, the Aadhar Card holds huge potential as it doubles up as both identification card as well as proof of address document. The 12 digits unique number can now be linked to a list of other important documents to avail the benefits of government-run schemes. As of now, the government of India has allowed linking of Aadhar Card with the following list of documents:

Aadhar Card Linking with LPG

The Indian government is providing subsidy on domestic liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for all the households across India. To receive the LPG subsidy one has to link their Aadhaar card to the LPG gas connection as the subsidy amount will be directly credited to one's bank account.

In the first step, the bank account has to be first linked to Aadhar number after which one has to provide a photocopy of Aadhar card to the respective gas agency dealer to link it to the consumer number or LPG gas connection.

Currently, there are three prominent LPG suppliers in the country, namely – Bharat Gas, Indane Gas and HP Gas. The prices of LPG in India is decided based on crude prices in the international market added with the currency exchange rate. To help the common man to afford the LPG cylinders, the central government is providing subsidy on domestic cylinders (up to 12 cylinders per year). The subsidy amount will be directly credited to the customer's bank account directly under the Patyaksh Hanstantrit Labh.

Aadhar Card Linking Bank Account

After the introduction of Aadhar cards in India, the government of India has made it mandatory for all the account holders to link their respective bank accounts with aadhar number to avail the benefits of government schemes like receiving the LPG’s subsidy amount. On the other hand, banks are also notified to deactivate those accounts which are not linked with aadhaar number. The linking of aadhar with a bank account can be done in two ways, both online mode and offline mode.

Aadhar Card Linking Bank Accounts through offline mode

Individuals who do not have net banking facilities can physically visit the respective branch of the bank and follow the below-mentioned steps to accomplish the linking process of Aadhaar with respective bank account:

  • Visit the bank branch where you maintain your bank account and collect a copy of the form to link the Aadhaar with a bank account.
  • Fill in the necessary information including name, residential address, bank account number, name of the bank, name of the branch and so on.
  • Fill all the boxes provided with name as mentioned in the Aadhaar card, aadhaar number, gender, mobile number.
  • Attach a photocopy of the Aadhaar card and submit the application form along with a photocopy of aadhaar card
  • The bank representative will check the details submitted by you and the bank account will be linked with the Aadhaar number if all the details provided by you matches.

Please Note: You will have to carry the original Aadhar card to the bank for verification purpose.

Aadhar Card Linking Bank Account through Internet Banking

Linking of the bank account with Aadhaar via internet banking is a very easy and quick process. A customer can complete this procedure sitting comfortably at home or in office.

The following are the list of steps which one has to follow to link the Aadhaar card with bank account via online mode:

  • Login to the internet banking for the respective bank account which you wish to link your Aadhaar card with.
  • Look out for ‘Aadhar card seeding’ or ‘Add aadhar card’ or similar option
  • Enter your aadhar details carefully and double-check the same before clicking on the submit button
  • The linking of a bank account with aadhar will be completed on successful verification of the information provided.

Aadhar Card Linking With Mobile Number

The government of India has promoted a drive to link the Aadhaar number with the mobile phone number. Following the government’s initiative, many telecom operators across the country are notifying their respective subscribers to link their phone numbers with their respective Aadhaar number.

To help the customers, many telecom operators are providing doorstep services to complete the re-verification especially for the senior citizens, differently-abled individuals and for chronically ill people across the country. Iris scanning devices are also deployed at the service centres for smoothly conducting the linking process.

There are many ways through which an individual can link their Aadhar with mobile linking. They are One Time Password (OTP), Agent Assisted Authentication, IVRS facility, SMS Based linking.

Aadhar Card Linking With Driving License

Over a while, aadhar has occupied a prominent place in every Indian’s life. The initiation has taken up by the government of India to provide a unique universal identification number to each Indian citizen is gradually bearing the fruits of benefits. The requirement of Aadhar is a must for availing government subsidies under various schemes. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken up an initiation drive for an easy and hassle-free process to link aadhar with driving license of individuals.

As of now, individuals can link their driving license with Aadhar card via online mode.

Procedure to Link Aadhaar with Driving License Via Online Method

Usually driving license in India is issued by the respective State and Union Territories Road Transport Departments. The following is the list of steps to link aadhar with driving license.

  • First, visit the State or Union Territories Road Transport Department’s web portal.
  • Look out for the option ‘Link Aadhaar’
  • Now look out for the ‘Driving License’ option from the drop-down menu
  • Enter your driving license number proceed further and click on the option ‘Get Details’.
  • Verify the details of your driving license.
  • Now enter your 12 digits unique Aadhar Card Number
  • Enter your mobile number which is registered with Aadhaar and click on ‘Submit’ button.
  • You will receive an OTP on your phone.
  • Proceeding further, enter the OTP to complete the process of linking aadhar with driving license.
