Some of the reasons mentioned below for registering your mobile number with an Aadhar card:
While many people might think that a loan on Aadhaar means that one can borrow money using their Aadhaar card, similar to a loan on credit cards, this is certainly not true. In fact, at this time, it is not possible to obtain a loan using only your identity card issued by UIDAI. Thus, phrases like Aadhaar card loan or Personal Aadhaar card loan tend to be a bit misleading. No product of this type exists to date, although you can certainly use the UIDAI ID to benefit from a loan provided that you have submitted other supporting documents required by your potential borrower. So, while personal loan on Aadhaar is certainly not a financial product that currently exists, you must have this key document to benefit from some key financial services offered by the government.
The main objectives of the Aadhaar card are:
1. A unique identity for each Indian citizen.
2. Only one card can be used for proof of address, proof of identity and proof of age. Individuals will not have to carry various documents.
3. Various government services can be used by individuals without the help of intermediaries or brokers.
Rationing card is an official document which consists entire family details in one card issued by the state governments of India to every household that is authorized to purchase subsidized food grains from the public distribution system (under the National Food Security Law). They also serve as a form of identification common to many Indians. A recent addition from the government of India is the linking of Aadhaar with Ration Card is mandatory. As the ration card is the oldest proof of residence in the country, it is important to connect it to Aadhaar to rationalize the services received by the holder and to prevent cases of fraud.
You can link your Aadhaar to your ration card from offline or online. The procedures for both are listed below.
Linking Aadhaar card with ration card through Online:

Residents can also file complaints offline via the mail. One can go for all complaints, corrections or Aadhaar requests, updates or suggestions through a post with supporting documents to one of the following addresses:
1. Unique Identification Authority of India

All Indian citizens can apply for an Aadhaar card.NRIs (non-resident Indians) are allowed to apply with a valid passport in a short period. How to register for Aadhaar?
The Aadhaar application process can be carried out from any Aadhaar enrollment centre / authorized permanent enrollment centres. You can find an updated list of existing Aadhaar registration centres in Ahmedabad on our Goodreturns website.
To simplify the registration process, UIDAI has also authorized many post offices and bank branches to operate as permanent enrollment centres. Applicants can follow the 3 simple steps listed below to complete the registration process.
Step 1: Locate the nearest Aadhaar enrollment centre in Ahmedabad.
Step 2: Complete the application form and submit the required documents.
Step 3: Complete the biometrics and collect the acknowledgement.
In the case of applicants who do not have the required documents, the UIDAI has made arrangements for the following methods of registration:
Application-based on the head of the family (HoF): As part of this registration process, the head of the family (with a valid Aadhaar) can submit documents proving their relationship with the applicant.
The candidate's registration will then be processed after successful verification of this information.
Introducer-based request: In cases where the applicant does not have proof of identity or valid address documents, an introducer appointed by a registrar can assist in the registration process. The introducer can be contacted via the Aadhaar enrollment centre.
To make the Aadhaar process more easily, UIDAI has made available various services related to Aadhaar processes and functionality.
The services are listed and explained below:
1. Verify the Aadhaar number:
Applicants can check whether their Aadhaar card is active or has been deactivated as follows:
2.Verify the mobile phone number or email address registered with Aadhaar:
It is advisable to provide an email address and a mobile number when requesting an Aadhaar card at Aadhaar enrollment centre, as this facilitates obtaining updates on the services. As a requester, you can also remotely receive notifications about features or additional information related to your Aadhaar.
3.Get/Retrieve your Aadhaar number:
If you have lost or misplaced your Aadhaar card, UIDAI has simplified the recovery process. You can recover your Aadhaar, VID or EID card electronically through a registered mobile number from UIDAI website. It is important to note that retrieving Aadhaar information requires that you have a registered mobile number.
4.Checking the status of the Aadhaar linking:
To benefit from most government schemes and subsidies, applicants must link their Aadhaar card to their bank account for grant disbursement. You can check the current status of the linking process as shown below:
5.Generate a virtual ID (VID):
To ensure data protection and safeguard the information provided within the framework of Aadhaar, the UIDAI launched the virtual ID(VID). This provides limited KYC (Know Your Customer) access to vendors/merchants seeking information on Aadhaar for various services.
6.Lock / unlock your biometric details:
Your Aadhaar card contains both demographic and biometric data, which is used to authenticate your identity when using various services. When you share your Aadhaar information with a vendor/ merchant for verification, there is a risk of misuse. To maintain the security of this data, the UIDAI allows holders of Aadhaar cards to lock access to their biometric information. This can be unlocked at the discretion of the cardholder.
You can check Aadhaar's status online by visiting the online portal of the official Unique Identification Authority of India(UIDAI) website. There is no need to pay a fee to check the status of the Aadhaar card on the official UIDAI website. Follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the official UIDAI website (https://uidai.gov.in).

The Virtual Identification Number (VID) is a temporary, revocable 16-digit random number mapped to the Aadhaar number. The UIDAI, in a statement released in January, said its Aadhaar number cannot be derived from the generated VID. The virtual ID can be used for authentication purposes in the same way as the Aadhaar number is used. Currently, the VID can be generated on the UIDAI resident portal. According to the UIDAI statement, various entities will have to migrate to the new system where they can accept the VID for authentication.
Since this is a digital ID, Aadhaar holders can regenerate it multiple times, making it safer than providing your actual Aadhaar number.
Currently, the VID is valid for at least one day, which means that an Aadhaar holder would be able to regenerate a new VID one day after generating the first one. In addition, there is no expiration period set for the VID yet and it will be valid until you generate a new one. This particular feature, on the UIDAI website, is only accessible if your mobile phone number is registered in the UIDAI database. Indeed, all online services related to Aadhaar are activated by a one-time password (OTP) and for this, registering your mobile number with UIDAI is a must.
Where you still need Aadhaar and where VID might come in handy. Although the Supreme Court has extended the deadline for binding Aadhaar to bank accounts, various other financial services and cell phones indefinitely until the judgment on the pending petitions before it is spoken, you still need it for the following services: -
So if you open a new bank account or take out an insurance policy, instead of giving your Aadhaar number, you can provide your 16 digits VID.
1. Access the VID generator on the UIDAI home page, under Aadhaar Services.
2. Enter your Aadhaar number, your security code, ie the captcha, and click on Send OTP. Later, You will receive the One Time Password on your registered mobile number which is linked with Aadhaar card.
3. Under the field to enter the OTP, you will have the option to generate a new VID or retrieve the one you have already generated. Upon submission, you will receive the VID on your mobile number.
