mAadhaar is an official app launched by the UIDAI to provide a platform for aadhar cardholders to carry their details related to demographic and photos with them in their smartphones. The app enables the aadhar cardholder to add his profile in and grants access to the app as per the user's requirements. The user can create up to three aadhar profiles in this app. The mAadhaar app is well protected and secured and the user has to use the password to open the app every time, thus ensuring safety to the personal details of the cardholder as well as protection from fraudsters.

The mAadhaar app can be downloaded on the mobile phone by following the simple steps as mentioned below:

Step 1: Visit the Google Play Store in your mobile

Step 2: Click on the install button
Step 3: Allow the required permission for the mAadhaar app for download

One should note that the registered mobile number in aadhar card should be linked with your mobile number to avail this facility.

Steps to Lock/Unlock Biometrics via mAadhaar App

Step 1: Download the mAadhaar app on your mobile and open the app
Step 2: Login to the app using the user id and password
Step 3: Click on the profile and open it
Step 4: Click on the ‘Biometric Settings’ from the menu option which can be found on the top right corner of the app
Step 5: Tick the ‘Enable Biometric Lock’ option
Step 6: A disclaimer will pop up which shows that the biometrics may still be used for the next six hours.

Step 8: An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number in aadhar
Step 9: The OTP will be automatically fed by the app
Step 10: Your biometric details will immediately get locked.

Step 1: Visit the mAadhaar app
Step 2: Go to the top-right menu and click on the ‘Biometric Settings’
Step 3: A message will be displayed which reads as “Your biometrics will be temporarily unlocked”
Step 4: Click on the ‘Yes’ option
Step 5: Your biometric details will be unlocked for 10 minutes
Step 6: If you prefer to disable the biometric lock, then you can do so by visiting the UIDAI website.

Procedure to add profile in mAadhaar app

It is mandatory to first add your profile in the app to use the mAadhaar app. The profile will get added, only if the mobile number is mentioned in the Aadhaar is the same that is being used in the smartphones. Follow the below-mentioned steps to add your profile in mAadhaar app:

Step 1: Open the mAadhaar app
Step 2: Enter your password to login to the app

Your Profile in the mAadhaar app will get automatically deleted once the SIM is removed happens to be the registered mobile number in Aadhar. In case if you are upgrading your mobile phone or switching on to a new mobile connection, then one should delete your profile and uninstall the mAadhaar app as a safety measure before handing it over to someone else.
