Over the past few years, the government of India has come across various instances wherein a single individual has more than one driving license. As per the rules framed by the Road Transport Department, a person cannot possess more than one driving license. The driving license issued in one state is valid across all the other states and Union Territories in India and hence there is no need to have multiple driving licenses.
To curb the annoyance, the central government of India is planning to link aadhar card with driving license. Postdeadline, those licenses which are not linked with aadhar will be deactivated, as only one driving license can be linked with aadhar. With this, the issue of duplicate licenses can be checked easily.
If in case, if a person holds multiple driving licenses, then the same can be surrendered at a regional office of the Road Transport Department.
