A Duplicate PAN Card is nothing but the reprint of the existing PAN Card of the Pan holder in case of any loss or damage. Whether the PAN Holder is HUF or in a limited liability partnership anyone can apply for duplicate PAN Card through NSDL or UTIITSL portal. Before applying for duplicate PAN card applicant has to keep in mind that this facility is applicable to those PAN Holder's whose recent PAN request has been approved via NSDL/UTIITSL or have been received PAN from e-Pan facility. Applicant will only get the duplicate Pan Card if the PAN details are relevant to their existing documents. Duplicate PAN request can only be approved applicant's Aadhar number has been linked with PAN and it is mandated for all the applicants. However FIR Copy (optional) is required while submission of Duplicate PAN application.

Documents needed for Applying Duplicate PAN card

Proof of PAN Card or PAN allotment letter

Proof of identity which carries photo, date of birth, name and address of the applicant such as

  • Aadhar Card
  • Bank Details
  • Driving license
  • Voter Id Card
  • Passport
  • Ration Card
  • Pension Card

Resident Proof which carries Name of the applicant and existing residential address such as

  • Aadhar Card
  • Bank Details

Apply for Duplicate PAN Card

It is a simplistic Digital method which is broadly used mechanism nowadays in order to apply for new duplicate PAN Card. If you are willing to apply for duplicate PAN Card then here is the step by step tutorial for a successful submission through NSDL and UTIITSL portal.

NSDL Duplicate PAN Card apply

  • Go to the official site of NSDL Portal
  • Now under the drop-down box of services click on PAN
  • Under the Reprint of PAN, Card section click on Apply Now.
  • Now you are redirected to Online PAN Application page.
  • Under the drop-down box of Application Type select Changes and Correction in existing PAN Data / Reprint of PAN Card (No changes in existing PAN Data).
  • Select your category and mention your all personal details like Name, Email Id, Mobile number and Date of birth.
  • Now carefully read the Captcha Code and mention the code in the given box.
  • After successful submission, a token number will be generated in the next page which you will be get in your registered Email Id or Mobile number.

In the next page mention your all Personal Details and select the mode to submit your PAN Application Form which includes 3 modes such as

Forward application documents physically

Printed copy of acknowledgement form along with the essential documents need to be sent by the applicant to NSDL through post or courier.

Submit Digitally through e-KYC & e-Sign (Paperless)

e-KYC method is done as per your Aadhar card details. To complete e-KYC process an OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number of the applicant in order to the validation of the details provided in the application form.

Submit scanned images through e-Sign

Scan your needed documents and submit the images of your documents through the e-sign method. Aadhar is also mandated for e-Sign method.

  • After selecting your mode of PAN Application Form select Whether Physical PAN Card is required or not which is mentioned in the below of the same page.
  • On the next page fill your “Contact & other details” which is mandated in order to receive OTP for the authentication process
  • Now mention your document details and make the declaration.
  • Below the declaration mention your place, date of submission and click on submit.
  • Now payment gateway page will appear which can be done through Credit Card, Debit Card or Netbanking.
  • Once the payment process is over acknowledgement will be generated.
  • The duplicate pan card will be delivered to your doorstep within 2 weeks of PAN submission date.

UTIITSL Duplicate PAN Card apply

  • Go to the official site of UTIITSL Portal
  • Click on PAN Services which is located in below of the homepage
  • Now click on Reprint PAN Card (for PAN Card dispatched cases)
  • Now click on Reprint PAN Card
  • Mention your 10 digit alphanumeric PAN Number
  • Mention your 12 digit Aadhar card number
  • Mention your date of birth as per your Aadhar Card
  • Mention GSTIN Number if applicable
  • Now carefully read the Captcha Code and mention the code in the given box.
  • Now click on submit.
  • Now payment gateway page will appear which can be done through Credit Card, Debit Card or Netbanking.
  • Once the payment is done a new page will appear displaying your successful transaction details.
  • Now click on Continue with e-Sign/e-KYC to generate the OTP. Enter the OTP that has come to your registered mobile number and click on submit. Once the verification is completed your PAN card will be sent to your given address within 15 working days.

Apply for Duplicate PAN through Offline

  • Applicants who are not able to apply duplicate PAN through the online process due to any type of network issue can also apply the same through an offline method. Below is the step by step method
  • Download and print Request for new PAN Card Or/ And Changes Or Correction in PAN Card
  • Now mention your all personal and obligatory details.
  • The mentioned details must be relevant to your documents.
  • Declaration to be made by the applicant stating that the above-given details are correct to the best of our knowledge.
  • Date and Place to be mentioned along with Signature or left thumb impression of the applicant. In case of left thumb impression, it must be attested by the Magistrate or Gazetted Officer under official seal and stamp.
  • Review your all mentioned details in the form and submit it with your all essential documents in the nearest NSDL or UTIITSL office.

Do's and Dont's

Key info for the applicants to apply for Duplicate PAN Card

Do's

  • To apply for duplicate PAN Card only use form Request for new PAN Card Or/ And Changes Or Correction in PAN Card
  • All the details must be filled in English only.
  • Form must be filled in BLOCK LETTERS by Black Ink only.
    Applicant must leave a blank box after submitting one word on each box.
  • Field mark with asterisk (*) are compulsory to be filled by the applicant.
  • In case of thumb impression, it must be attested by a Gazetted Officer or Magistrate under official seal and stamp
  • All the box are mandated to filled by the applicant.
  • Attached passport size photograph must have a size of (size 3.5 cm * 2.5 cm)
  • Mention correct postal address with an appropriate landmark in order to get the duplicate PAN Card as your doorstep.
  • Mention correct mobile number and Email Id to generate OTP.
  • Must attach proof of PAN allotment letter with the application.

Don'ts

  • Don't overwrite or make any correction in the form. If such case appears then the application form should not be accepted.
  • Do not mention POI or POA which are not in the name of the individual.
  • Do not mention any additional details in the form like birthmark, rank, marks, designation etc.
  • Do not pin or staple the photograph
  • In case of female applicant do not write the Husband's name in the Father's name column.
  • Do not abbreviate your names and do not use initials.

Need for Duplicate PAN Card

  • A duplicate PAN Card is required to the PAN Holder in case of Lose/Theft of the existing PAN Card
  • If there is any misplace of the existing PAN Card by the PAN Holder
  • In case of damage of the existing PAN Card by the applicant.
  • Change in the details of the PAN Holder in the existing PAN Database.

Fees for duplicate PAN Card

In order to apply for duplicate PAN Card application are required to pay an online fee of Rs 50+GST (For Indians) and Rs 959+GST (For foreign applicants or NRI).
