PAN Card for Partnership Firm

Partnership companies in India are regulated by the 1932 Indian Partnership Act, which refers to partnership in accordance with Section 4 as Partnership is the relationship between two individuals who have agreed to share the profit of an enterprise carried on by all or any of those working for all.

To file Income Tax Returns, the partnership agreement or registration certificate must be submitted to the authority as a proof of the company's existence along with the Form 49A.

Points to keep in mind for partnerships before applying PAN

Before applying for PAN partnership must follow the below-given factors for the hassle-free application process.

  • A partnership must be notarized by the notary of India
  • The deed should classify a partner as the managing partner authorized to sign on the company's behalf.
  • Establishment date of the partnership must be mentioned
  • Address and other contact details of the firm must be mentioned in the partnership deed.
  • All sections of the certification must be duly signed by all the stakeholders
  • A rubber stamp must be made on behalf of the name of the firm with the word 'Partner' at the bottom. As this can be used by the managing director to sign the PAN application form

Documents Required for Partnership Registration

To avail legal benefits partnership firm must be registered. To get register partnerships are required the below-mentioned documents:

Partnership Deed

A partnership deed is written in order to avoid future disputes. A partnership deed is formed on a Rs 2000/- judicial stamp paper and all stakeholders are mandated to sign it. It covers the company and shareholders rights and duties.

Documents of Firm

  • To apply for PAN a firm must fill Form 49A. It can be submitted online if the approved partner uses a digital signature certificate to sign the document. Once the process is completed the application form and all the required documents must be sent to the PAN processing centre, Pune.
  • Resident Proof of Firm- If the firm registered office is rented. Then the rented agreement and one utility bill is required. Along with this, NOC from the landlord will also have to be submitted
  • If the location of the registered office is owned then a utility bill must be submitted on behalf of the name of the owner. Also the owners NOC must be submitted (as stated in the utility bill)

Other Documents for Registration

  • In the case that partners decide to sign a partnership company, they will send the partnership form, proof of identity and address of the firm as well as the partners to the Registrar of Partnerships
  • It also includes the filing of an affidavit certifying that all the facts are listed in the act and records are correct.

Proof of GST Registration
A company needs to submit a PAN Number, email proof, Partner Name and address evidence to gain a GST registry. Authorized signatories will either sign the document using a digital signature credential or a confirmation of e-Aadhar.

Proof of Bank Account

To opening a bank account a firm requires below-mentioned documents

  • Partnership Deed
  • PAN Card of Partnership Firm

  • Identity details of the stakeholders

Online PAN Card Apply for Partnership

Below given procedures are the online method to apply for PAN through NSDL or UTIITSL

Through TIN NSDL

  • First, you have to visit the official website TIN NSDL to apply for a new PAN.
  • Carefully read all the instructions and click on Online Application for New PAN(Form 49A).
  • Now you will see a new page where the applicant has to give his/her own information.
  • Now in the drop-down box of applicant type select Firm
  • Fill your all personal details along with your Aadhar number if you have. Enter the security code carefully and thoroughly check your all the given details before submitting.
  • Click on submit and the now you will be redirected to the payment page, you can pay the amount by Cheque or DD in favour of NSDL or you can also pay the charges through e-payment like credit card, debit card or net banking.
  • After the successful payment, you will get an acknowledgement number page which you have to take a print out.
  • Now fix your recent passport size photographs in the acknowledgement paper and put your signature on the signature box with a black pen only.
  • Now you have to send your acknowledgement receipt to the Income Tax Department along with your identity and resident proof of the firm within a time period of 15 days of online application.
  • PAN card number is sent to the applicant's registered mobile number and e-mail id once the validation process is over.

Through UTIITSL

  • First, you have to visit the official website UTIITSL to apply for a new PAN card.
  • On the top bar click on the drop-down box of Services and select PAN card.
  • Under the drop-down box of PAN, Card select Apply PAN card to start the procedure.
  • Click on Apply for new PAN card(Form 49A) and it will be redirected to a new page where you have to select Digital Mode to apply for your PAN through online.
  • Fill your all personal and obligatory details. Once you finished check all your given details thoroughly and click on the submit button which is located on the bottom of the page.
  • Click on submit and the now you will be redirected to the payment page, you can pay the amount by Cheque or DD in favour of NSDL or you can also pay the charges through e-payment like credit card, debit card or net banking.
  • After the successful payment, you will get an acknowledgement number page which you have to take a print out.

Offline PAN Card Apply for Partnership

  • Download the Form 49A from NSDL or UTIITSL portal and take a print out of it.
  • Now mention your all personal and obligatory details, the mentioned details must be relevant to your identity proof and resident proof.
  • Affix your recent passport size colour photograph along with your all documents.
  • Now submit your form along with the all attached documents in the nearest NSDL office or UTIITSL PAN service centre along with the application charges through DD, cash or e-payment.
  • PAN card number is sent to your registered mobile number and e-mail id once the validation process is over and you will get your new PAN card within 20 working days.

How to fill PAN Application Form for Partnership Firm?

  • The name of the firm entered in the document must be same as the incorporation or association certification.
  • Non-Individuals must write their full name starting from the first block of Surname/Last Name
  • Only a Partner is required to fill Form 49A and submit the form. The form can be corrected and resubmitted in case of any error occur.
  • A validation window will be shown when sent with all the information filled up by the individual. Either the individual may edit or confirm the same.
  • Only a partner is allowed to sign the acknowledgement
  • The Signature/Left Thumb impression must be in the acknowledgement box.
  • If the individual gives a thumb impression, the same should be approved under official seal and stamped by a Magistrate or Gazetted Officer.
  • The PAN will be placed in the Firm status in case of a Limited Liability Partnership
  • For a Partnership, the residential address is mandatory
  • Date of establishment is mandated for the Partnership Deed
  • Office address must be same as the Partnership Deed
  • While applying Form 49A, select status of the applicants as Partnership Firm
  • Must enter the valid registration number of the firm
  • For Source of Income, must select source from business in source of income column or another option as applicable
  • Mention all the submitted documents in the given space that are needed to submit
  • In the declaration part, the authorized partner must mention their name, place and date

PAN Card Application Form for Partnership Firm

Instructions to Fill Form 49A for Partnership Firm

  • All the details must be filled in English only.
  • Form must be filled in BLOCK LETTERS by Black Ink only.
  • Applicant must leave a blank box after submitting one word on each box.
  • Field mark with asterisk (*) are compulsory to be filled by the applicant.
  • Photograph size (3.5cm*2.5cm) must be affixed in the box provided on the form.
  • Photograph should not be stapled or clipped in the form.
  • AO code, AO type, AO number must be filled by the applicant.
  • Signature or left thumb impression must be given across the affixed photo in such a manner that portion of the signature or thumb impression is on photo as well as the form also.
  • Signature or thumb impression must be provided within the box on the left side of the form.
  • The signature should not be on the photograph affixed on the right side of the form.
  • If any such case occurs then the application will not be accepted.
  • In case of thumb impression, it must be attested by a Gazetted Officer or Magistrate under official seal and stamp.
  • Provide details of Representative Assessee is mandated to be filled in column 14 of the application form.

Points to Keep in Mind while Filing Form 49A for Partnership Firm

  • Given resident address, mobile number and e-mail id must be correct.
  • While applying online the scan copy of your photo must be of 300dpi, colour, 213*213 pixel in JPEG format. (Size must be less than 30kb)
  • While applying online the scan copy of your signature must be of 600dpi black and white in JPEG format. (Size must be less than 60kb)

Things not to do While Applying Form 49A for Partnership Firm

  • Don't overwrite or make any correction in the form. If such case appears then the application form should not be accepted.
  • Do not mention POI or POA which are not in the name of the individual.
  • Do not mention any additional details in the form like birthmark, rank, marks, designation etc.
  • In case of female applicant do not write the Husband's name in the Father's name column.
  • Do not abbreviate your names and do not use initials.
